Founded in 1998, Somerset Hills Learning Institute is a private non-profit program that offers a broad spectrum of services to individuals with autism. The Institute is a dissemination site of the Princeton Child Development Institute and exists to provide science-based treatment and education to people with autism. Somerset Hills Learning Institute prepares professionals as future autism intervention resources in New Jersey, and through its research, pioneer comprehensive intervention models that may be used nationally and internationally for the benefit of people with autism.
The Institute has proudly been a member of the Bedminster business community for the last 8 years. This year we are celebrating 16 years of making measurable differences in the lives of our students, their families, and the community through treatment, mentoring, and research.
Consistent with the literature, we have returned 30-50% of the children who came to us before age five back to their neighborhood schools. These children and their families have opportunities they would not have without our services. These graduations also yield significant savings to taxpayers; we have saved NJ taxpayers over $60 million.
As tuition does not cover all our costs, we must raise more than $700,000 each year to deliver our services. We are incredibly grateful to Pedal for the Puzzle for choosing the Institute as a beneficiary. Their partnership helps ensure that we can continue to provide compassion, cutting-edge intervention, and research that forever changes the lives of people with autism and their families.
“Because of Somerset Hills Learning Institute, we were able to have our first real birthday party for our daughter. There were 22 kids in attendance and she fully participated – laughing, running hand-in-hand, and just having fun with her FRIENDS!”
